China Spring ISD offers a holistic educational experience for all students, providing access to academic resources, extracurricular activities and services designed to support emotional and mental health. Bianca Martinez, China Spring ISD social worker, leads the Social Services Department at China Spring ISD. Entering her 6th year at the district, Martinez says, “My role in the district varies depending on individual needs but a few constants are; I provide supportive counseling for our students at the Alternative Education Center, I connect students and families to local resources, I oversee the PALs program, I am the coordinator for our parent forums, I serve on the School Health Advisory Committee, as well as, our district Behavior Threat Assessment team and Voices Advocating for Substance Awareness, I am the Freedom Reins Counseling liaison, and an advocate for Mental Health!”
Martinez is responsible for organizing China Spring ISD Parent Forums. Parent Forums are a free resource, available to all parents, guardians and community members, providing practical skills and tools to support students. “No one can be completely prepared for the trials and tribulations of every stage of parenthood,” notes Martinez, “We believe that parents and schools are a team and that we learn together.” These forums are educational opportunities aimed at helping parents better understand and approach day to day concerns, topics and issues impacting students and families.
Based on ideas from parents and community members, Parent Forums highlight specific topics each year. This year, China Spring ISD Parent Forum features guest speakers focusing on digital safety, substance use trends and prevention, mental health and suicide prevention, and self-care and coping strategies. China Spring ISD invites all parents and community members to join us for Parent Forum on September 25, from 6:00-8:15 pm, at the China Spring Elementary Campus. Registration is not required.
