China Spring ISD Board of Trustees September Meeting Summary

In the state of Texas, each school district works with a school board to make decisions about district operations. School boards are seen as a bridge between school districts and the community they serve. Comprised of elected citizens from the local community, school boards work together with school administrators to make decisions about educational programming based on the needs and expectations of the community.

At China Spring ISD, administrators and board members alike, value community participation and seek to provide opportunity for community members to engage with board meetings. Board meetings offer insight into what is happening in education and, most importantly, what is specifically impacting China Spring ISD. In the spirit of community engagement, China Spring ISD is providing two new resources to China Spring community members. Recordings of the monthly board meetings for the 2023-2024 academic year are now available online at www.chinaspringisd.net/page/school-board. After each meeting, a member of the administration team will write a brief summary of key agenda items, providing context for community members to stay informed about what is happening at China Spring ISD. These summaries can be found in the News section of the China Spring ISD website, here.

The China Spring ISD School Board met on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 6:00 PM. The agenda was light, with only two items requiring a vote by the board of trustees.

The board reviewed and approved the district’s investment policy CDA (Local) as well as investment strategies. At China Spring ISD, the Chief Financial Officer and Superintendent regularly monitor the performance of each financial account and make adjustments as needed. Our goal is to invest money in accounts with interest rates providing the best return on investments. The board reviewed all current district investments and approved the investment policy and strategy as it currently stands.

The second agenda item requiring a vote from the board of trustees is the approval of attendance committees for each campus. Each campus has an attendance committee, comprised of campus administration, faculty, and staff. These committees work to uphold China Spring ISD’s attendance policy and provide resources for students and families to support positive attendance. The board approved the committees as presented.

The next China Spring ISD School Board meeting is Monday, October 30, at 6:00 pm. Event details can be found here.
