The China Spring ISD (CSISD) School Board met on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 6:00 pm. The School Board highlighted April Faculty and Staff Award winners, celebrated Mrs. Amy Gregory on earning National Board Certification, and recognized the impact of positive attendance at the district.
Each month, faculty and staff are recognized for their outstanding contribution to the students at CSISD. These educators are nominated by their campus principals and confirmed by the administration team. Educators are recognized at the School Board meeting and presented with a plaque. China Spring ISD is celebrating the first teacher to complete the National Board Certification process at China Spring ISD. Mrs. Amy Gregory, 5th grade math teacher at China Spring Intermediate School, is a National Board Certified Teacher. Established in 1987, the National Board for professional Teaching Standards is an independent, nonprofit organization working to advance accomplished teaching for all students. The goal of this prestigious certification is to maintain high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do and provide a national voluntary system certifying teachers who meet these standards. Less than 1% of teachers in the state of Texas hold this certification. Not only is Mrs. Gregory earning a certification that few have achieved, she completed the process in one year while many peers take at least three. The district is proud of Mrs. Gregory and thankful to have her contributing to the educational experience for students at China Spring ISD.
Finally, as we reach the end of the 2023-24 academic year, China Spring ISD celebrates the partnership between our schools and the families we serve. Did you know, when our attendance rate increases by as little as 1%, it results in the state of Texas releasing additional funding to our district? For the 2023-24 academic year, the district projected a 95% attendance rate. As a result of the positive partnership between educators and our families, our final attendance rate for 2023-24 is 96%. This 1% increase resulted in an additional $400,000 in funding to the district. The additional funding helps pay for teacher salaries, ensuring we retain top educators who provide the best educational experience for our students. At the May Board meeting, the School Board applauded the work of campus principals, educators, and families for working together to earn high attendance averages for our district.
