Athletic Director Josh Gregory reported that senior Kaden Kemp recently competed in the state powerlifting competition. Kemp placed fifth in the state, squatting 610 pounds, bench pressing 470 pounds, and deadlifting 550 pounds. China Spring ISD is proud to celebrate Kemp's achievement.
Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kristen Dutschmann reported that State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and End of Course Exams (EOC) standardized testing begins Wednesday, April 8. As a partner in your child's education, China Spring ISD educators have been working to prepare students for these assessments, and your support plays a key role in their success. STAAR and EOC tests provide information about student learning, helping teachers adjust instruction to make sure every student has the resources they need to succeed. Standardized test scores also impact school accountability and funding - key factors in maintaining the high-quality education our students deserve.
Executive Director of Special Programs Dr. Nick Smith showcased a new resource at China Spring ISD: Timekettle. In line with national conversations about leveraging technology to close learning gaps, our district is expanding its pilot of Timekettle - an AI tool that translates classroom instruction in real time for English language learners. After witnessing improvements in student engagement and understanding during our initial rollout, we're committed to investing further in this resource. This innovative resource not only boosts student engagement and comprehension but also shows our commitment to equity by providing every student the support they need to succeed. China Spring ISD currently serves 143 students in its emergent bilingual program, representing 18 different languages.
